Ken Jasper was elected Member for Murray Valley in 1976. He was born
and raised in Rutherglen and gained his Matriculation with honours in
accounting and political studies at Scotch College. He also attended
Wangaratta Technical College, undertaking motor mechanics' apprenticeship
training. After further training in all areas in his family's motor business,
he became Sales Manager and Director. He has had an active role in community
organisations. He currently is secretary/treasurer of the Murray Rowing
Association and has been Secretary/Treasurer of the Rutherglen Lake Rowing
Club. He has been a President of the Rutherglen Apex Club, a Commissioner
of the Rutherglen Waterworks Trust, a Secretary of the Rutherglen Development
Association and a Member of the Rutherglen Wine Festival Committee. He
is a Member of the Rutherglen Uniting Church and a former Member of the
Council of the Wangaratta Institute of TAFE.
Ken has been an active member of The Nationals, serving
both as a secretary in the Party at both branch and electorate
level and a Central
Councillor. He was Secretary to the Parliamentary National Party
1983-1992. He was a Member of the Parliamentary Legal and Constitutional
Committee
from 1982-1992. He was a Member of the Scrutiny of Acts and Regulations
Committee from 1992-1996. He is current Secretary of The Nationals
Conference of State Parliamentarians.
He is the Nationals spokesman for Tourism, Small
Business and Retail and Employment.

Ken and his wife Annette have two children and are all keen snow skiers.
